Targeting Japan and Australia Market, Intikeramik (IKAI) Launches New Products

EmitenNews.com -PT Intikeramik Alamasri Industri Tbk (IKAI) has prepared various business strategies to face challenges in the coming years with various business expansion plans.

In 2024, the company has prepared a capital expenditure plan or capex worth IDR 20.3 billion to expand into the Restaurant and Cabin business. On the other hand, the issuer, which is famous for its Essenza brand products, also launched an anti-slip floor ceramic product. The product, named Essenza Smooth Grip, will be available in the near future.

President Director of PT Internusa Keramik Alamasri (INKA) Angelica Lie said, the presence of Smooth Grip emphasizes that anti-slip floor tiles no longer only play an aesthetic aspect but also have utility for everyday life.

“Essenza’s latest product innovation is to meet the needs of modern households and all dynamic family members. This Smooth Grip ceramic product is not only smooth, but also has special safety,” said Angelica during IKAI’s Publix Expose in Jakarta, last week.

According to Angelica, Essenza Smooth Grip ceramic products are suitable for indoor and outdoor spaces. Especially floors that are often exposed to liquids. With a specially designed smooth textured surface, this ceramic will reduce the risk of slipping, such as in the bathroom, kitchen to the edge of the swimming pool or front yard.

Until now, there are many types of floor tiles available on the market. The average ceramic shop sells porcelain, marble, cement, homogeneous tile, andesite, granite, and various other types of ceramics which are usually grouped by motif.

In addition to launching new products, the company also plans to expand to increase its contribution to the parent company. The plan is that INKA, as one of IKAI’s subsidiaries, will expand exports of ceramic products to Japan and Australia.

IKAI President Director Teuku Yohas Rafli said that Australia is a region close to Indonesia and relatively far from other countries. “Australia is not a high-skilled ceramic producer. Indonesia is a strategic area to take quality ceramics,” said Yohas.

Until now, local ceramic products made by companies in Indonesia have faced fierce competition from competitors, especially ceramic products from China. However, in terms of quality, local ceramic products, especially INKA’s production, Essenza, are considered no less competitive.

Until the third quarter of 2023, INKA succeeded in restructuring debt, refurbishing machinery and procuring new machinery, increasing production capacity to open market distribution networks with modern outlets and other distributors.

Until the third quarter of 2023, the ceramic business revenue reached Rp 93.98 billion. Until now, revenue from ceramic sales still dominates IKAI’s financial performance. Revenue from manufacturing contributed 57.13% to the company.

In the same period, INKA, as one of IKAI’s subsidiaries, managed to produce 560 thousand square meters of polished ceramics and 512 thousand square meters of unpolished ceramics. From sales, polished ceramics generated Rp 46.36 billion and unpolished ceramics generated Rp 47.62 billion.

In terms of distribution, modern outlets still contribute the most sales, reaching 71.32%. The rest is from stores 16.36%, retail 2.96%, and projects 9.36%.
